Computers are used by the Natural Products Support Group to track the processing of specimens and to record data pertinent to each processing step that a specimen undergoes, and all extracts derived from the specimen.   Some information is recorded on paper in notebooks, and also in computer databases.   The databases are stored on a Local Area Network (LAN) file server, running Novell Netware 5.0.   There are four main workstations that are used to enter the processing information into the computer databases: GRIND, MARINE, EXTRACT, and WEIGH, located in their respective labs.   Since all these computers use the same databases it is necessary to control access so that no two workstations are writing to the same database at the same time.   An applications program is used as a means to make this data entry and database control easy for the technician.
